It is my belief that people want to be good, and to do good things, but they live very busy, unreflecting lives and ignore their desires to be good and to do good. What the Vidnasa Discipline enables you to do, is to be a better person and to still live your life. You can be a Vidnasa, and have a good time at the bar occassionally. You can be a Vidnasa and still try to succeed in your profession. But this Discipline minimizes the harm you do to others, and maximizes the good you do for others. Here are the obligations of the Byen Vidnasa.

1.The Prayer of Commitment
2.The Chain of the Good God.
3.The Morning and evening prayers.
4.The Money Tithe.
5.The Time Tithe.
6.The Het Meeting.
7.Pilgrimage.
8.Non-Violence and Compassion.

If you would like to be a Vidnasa, here are your obligations and commitments. You must shave off all of your hair or cut off a little if shaving is impossible and burn it and pray this prayer of commitment.

Comrades of the Byen Vidnasa
please accept my commitment to You and Your Discipline-
to harm none and to do good.
Please help me to tread this path.
Help me to fulfil my potential and help me
fulfil the potential of the universe.
I promise to do my best to remain loyal to the Discipine,
and to fufil its goals for my life
and for the world.
Let me be like Your hand,
achieving Your good on the earth,
I thank You for bringing me to this point.

3.

Tus musot sibkle di givim wobi xog bok tum, hagara kum. Givim da ezaguto xa kum Katea Byena. Olo beco dis pods byena e bocas tums a olo.

You must wear a white cord around your waist, like a belt. This cord is known as the Chain of the Discipline It represents the principles of the discipline and your commiment to them.

4.

Madun kazde prejotsga di prejon da:

Every morning you will pray this prayer:

O gizo sihea

e adarmotga mani d'olo,
donk yo lasi vuroxu di munka da

O splendid sun
whose first rays
awaken all creatures
break within me the new day
cleanse my heart
and prepare it well,
so I may do this work,
this noble work.

E heb kazde prejotsga di prejon da:

And every evening you will pray this prayer.

O noh kedvex

O kind night
You are the stillness I seek
give me rest from the flames
that lap around me
plunge me into your silence
night, grant me
your peace so that
I may share it with others.

5.

Bizirins tums cakos dis adilits. Os, yexli tus munkoxu, adilitotsga dis licas tums a karitas Vidnasa.

Your life is a gift. Therefore, if you work, give some of your income to a Vidnasa charity.

6.

Embers ax gondolos je karitas cako hilgkle tilke di nec ce likambo e azten skonso d'olo. Olo lah vera cako. Nec xahkehita cako, solus vangya vera ze karitas oc cako. Many people think that charity is just throwning money at a problem and then ignoring it. This is not true. Money is helpful, but the real idea behind charity is service. Helping another person, helps that person, but it also helps you to grow spiritually. Therefore every Vidnasa is required to perform one hour of community service every week with Vidnasa charities.

7.

Tus arkituosna dis pos kazde azert prejon e yib duxala mit robs ze Het tums. Da biskeno d'ic comuna, rab duxala e vastig rozuma. Het cako di lo bekat ze Vidnasa. Olo yubo dis embers 2-12. Yexli het mamoxu dis robs tab ya, olo ahalo teilenkle enla hets niza. Hets je teileno en byen da xalos va en gcihets. Los ze gcihets stoa xalos en narods.

You are to meet every week for prayer and spiritual discussion with the members of your Het. This encourages mutual support, spiritual growth and intellectual development. A Het is the smallest grouping of Vidnasa. It consists of 2-12 people. It must be small so that the members of the group can really know each other beyond a superficial understanding. The point of the group is to help people grow in the Discipline, on their spiritual path. Every meeting begins with a moment of silence, a review of het business, and then a discussion of a quote from the great work, or some other spiritual topic. Each week a different member is responsible for leading the meeting. If a Het has 24 members, it can split into two hets. Hets that split in this way are grouped together in clans. Groups of one hundred clans are grouped together in nations.

8.

Bejigum inistod bizirins tums, tus musot vurkle di soc a Vidnasabad.

Once in your life you are to make the pilgrimage to the sacred city, Vidnasabad.

9.

Do not kill any people, or animals, be compassionate to all of creation. There are four ways to practice compassion through diet. The first is a vegan diet. The second is a vegetarian diet. The third is a diet of non-sentinent meat, such as chicken. The fourth is to limit your consumption of sentinent meat to once a week.
