Movies: I think that I will start to post actual links to the movies I watch, that way you can be the judge, and be a little better informed about your world.
First of all, for the starwars fans out there-
Then we have a very interesting documentary about what it's really like to grow up rich. Born Rich. If I had watched this film when I was younger, it would have made me very upset. Now I can appreciate the fact that some of these people really are suffering. Some are just pretending to, and some are clueless. Watch out for the Vanbuilt heir. It seems like he would have been happier if he had been a plumber's son.
Baby Bible Bashers When I was watching this movie, I thought, that's disturbing, but then, on the other hand, some of those kids could be like the Wayne Gretzky of Tele-evangelism, so who are we to say that they can't preach, if they don't want to?
Control Room An account of Al Jezera during the begining of the current Iraq war. Funny that the most intelligent person in the film, seems to be the pentagon's pr man. Like he says, Al Jezera has its core audience and fox has its core audience. Al Jezera shouldn't pretend that it's in any way more honourable than Fox, in fact, I'm sure Ruppert Murdoch is well on his way to buying Al Jezera.
Einstein's Unfinished Symphony Over the past couple of years, I have started to become more and more interested in science, I don't know why, perhaps I am becoming less self-centered as I age, and more curious about the world. But I have noticed that just because something claims to be science, it doesn't mean that it actually is. I have spoken before about the difference between hard science and fuzzy science, and I think that Einstein's theories are fuzzy science. That may seem to be a large claim from someone with no background in physics, but consider these two facts. Einstein claimed that the fastest thing in the universe is light. With no proof. Light is the fastest thing in the universe that we know of, but we don't know of everything in the universe, because we are stuck on one tiny planet in the boonies. Another thing he claimed was that gravity curves space, which causes things to fall. So the apple falls, not because it is attracted to the earth by some force, but because the gravity the earth produces curves space. Again with no concrete physical proof that this happens. Some people will say, how can you say Einstein is wrong, what about all of these contributions his theories have made to modern technology? I'm not saying he's completely wrong, just that a lot of what he claims is just speculation. And you can cause something to happen which you explain one way, but the real explanation may be something entirely different. The Heinsenberg Uncertainty principle is a classic example of this. Heinsenberg stated that if you use photons (a subatomic particle) to measure an atom, that very process of measurement will cause the atom to behave in an unpredictable way. Many people interpret this in a quasi-mystical way saying that matter is neither particle nor wave, it's both, or that these particles cause parrallel universes. There is a much simpler, and more logical explanation. Imagine you are trying to find a basketball that is lying on the floor of a highschool gym. It is pitch black and your method is throw a tennis ball at a basketball height over the gym floor. And you theorize that when the tennis ball hits the basketball you will be able to measure the position of the basketball by measuring the place where the tennis ball hits the outer wall. And you could, if the basketball remains still. But the basketball will be affected by the collision with the tennis ball and move. On a subatomic level we can't actually see anything, so our attempts to measure things end up affecting the results. Space exploration is the only way we can know more about the basis of our universe. I'm not alone in thinking that Einstein and modern physicists may be wrong in their thinking, a very famous physicist thought the same thing, and his name was-Einstein.
10 MPH About a couple of guys who have a dream to make a movie and they segway across America. While it was okay, it wasn't very inspiration for me.
